is it hard to switch trunks
would it be hard to switch out trunks? i have an 04 magnesium metallic with an OEM wing and might want to switch with someone without a wing. not sure i like the look of the wing and dont really want to take it off and have the holes filledby a shop. has anyone ever got there hole filled and how much didi it cost? also, has anyone ever switched out trunks and is it a hard process? thanks

Re: is it hard to switch trunks
I've R&R'd my trunk several times, it's not that difficult. Just make sure you have someone to help unscrew the mounting bolts while you hold the trunk or vice versa. The only pain in the butt pieces are the little cable ties that you have to pop out to get the wire loom out.
There are, let me think here (lays down with a cold washcloth on forehead), 7 nuts you have take off. Two that hold the lock cylinder on, two that hold the latch mechanism on, and three that hold the little trim piece on. You also have to remove the little lock actuator rod that goes between the cylinder and the latch mechanism. You'll want to change out the lock cylinder so you can still use the same key. The little trim piece has to come out so you can remove the bulb covers on your license plate lights. And the latch mechanism has to come out so you came remove the release cable.
All in all it should take you about an hour to completely swap it out. Not too difficult. Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any other questions.

thanks for the response. seems like its gonna be a pain to swap out both and i forgot about the locks also. i guess i might just see how much it would be to fill in the holes and see if i can sell the wing after.

It's actually really easy. Don't let whats involved put you off from doing it. Its no more difficult than dropping the front bumper cover.
