I own a 2006 manual EX coupe I bought new. I am now at 250k miles (virtually all Interstate driving). The car runs, great gets 35 MPG running 80 MPH and doesn't us any oil (change ever4-5k miles).

I had to replace the alternator at 180k but that was the only non-replacement type item I've had.

From those with higher mileage 8th gen cars, is there anything I should be looking for?

I also have a high mileage Honda Civic Si sedan. 2007 with 220,000 miles. I've had great experience on mine. Only thing that failed was the A/C compressor, which sucked. That was around 200K.

Other than that, the same clutch, wheel bearings, suspension etc... Only have done normal maintenance items and tire replacements.

I have a 7th Gen closing in on 300k. I recently had to replace alternator and front wheel bearings. With the 7th, exhaust manifold cracks and head gasket failures are relatively common at this age and mileage. I have the exhaust manifold crack, don't know if 8th Gen suffer from this also or not. It's about a thousand dollar repair unless using junkyard parts.

I know we have got a couple 8th gens with 250-300k that still come in,

one with 250 is a really nice car, the owner keeps up on everything and it's clean enough to eat off of. Manual trans. Guy must drive this thing 700 miles a week.
I did a whole bunch of work on it a few weeks ago, and just (seems like yesterday?) he came in for a couple dash light bulbs, a cruise switch, and a noise, I ordered a rear wheel hub/bearing for it to install on the next Saturday that I'm scheduled to work.

Got one with I think about 290k the last time I saw it, that comes in randomly when something breaks that his "regular mechanic" can't handle.
It's a total rag. Bounces and shakes and clunks, rusting out, etc.
Beat to death, looking for a place to die.
One tire is already in the junkyard, but it has not flatlined yet LOL.


I think it's all up to how much the owners want to care for their cars.
