Performance Upgrades??

I have had my civic for going on 5 years now. It's almost paid off. Now that I'm about to completely own my civic, I'm trying to upgrade it and put some money actually into my car and make good on my investment. I'm not too car savvy but i have a coworker that is and is willing to help / teach me. What would you all recommend i do as far as performance upgrades, at least to start off? I've been looking into air intakes, exhaust systems, and turbos along with more aesthetic mods. Just wanted to see if i could get some ideas and recommendations from more than one experienced source.

What are your goals with the car? Do you want to add a little extra pep? You looking for lots of power (turbo)? What's your budget? Suspension components are a good investment if you want to make it handle better. Lowering it is a great option for both handling and aesthetics.

Re: Performance Upgrades??

yea not looking to do anything REALLY crazy. Just would like to give it a little extra kick and make it look awesome. as far as budgeting goes, im just going to keep setting aside the same amount (if not more) as i would if i was continuing car payments, so im open to any idea really, its just more of a matter of time, than money. overall, im looking to put in around $6-8,000 when everything is said and done but that can change depending on what ideas i get.
