windshield replacement concern?

So I just bought a 2007 Civic and it has a starburst crack. I am going to have it fixed but I have a worry. There is a box attached to the right front corner of the windshield and a gray sticker in the same spot on the front of the windshield I was told its the xm antenna. If the windshield has to be replaced what do I do about the antenna will the glass company move it as well?

Re: windshield replacement concern?

Is the crack the size of a quarter or smaller ?? That used to be the cutoff point to repair.

Re: windshield replacement concern?

A quarter would cover it but I have seen the repair work and not work so I just want to hedge my bets in case of a replacement.

Re: windshield replacement concern?

The manual only shows location of XM antenna w/ navi. (on roof near top edge of back glass) so can't really say in your situation.

Maybe you can get by this time with only a repair of the rock chip.

Re: windshield replacement concern?

Dealer installed Honda accessory XM got the windshield antenna, upper right corner. All I have seen were black, maybe about 2"x2" square. 3M double sided tape.

(Aftermarket install could put it anywhere they want.)

Factory XM antenna would be on the rear area of the roof.
Kinda like this one

Yeah what you describe up front is what I have but there is a gray sticker on the front of the screen. From what I have read someone said the sticker may be an antenna booster.

Got it now.
It's called a "cover seal" (???)

It might just be there just to kind of hide the fact that the big ol antenna cube was stuck to the glass.

(Hope that link works.)
Look for it on page 8 of these installation instructions, step 26.
