Check engine light system problem
For about two years I have been trying to figure out a check engine light that comes on and off. The codes come back for cooling system and have replaced thermastat and related senors. With that not solving the problem I was told by Honda that the wire harness connection that handles the sensors is corroded and they believe the harness needs replaced. The labor and parts comes to $1000. Does anyone know a better way? I was told that splicing the connection wont work. The check engine light is currently out after being on for a month straight...... Please Help!!!

I assume this problem has to do with the temp sensor mounted in the bottom of the radiator, your run around story sounds like it.
Did the coolant temp sensor in the bottom of the radiator get replaced yet?
Yes, there is a cheaper way. Harnesses can be repaired if someone has a little talent and the right parts. Yours probably only needs the 2 terminals that go inside the connector in question. Hard to get. This is why I save all wiring harnesses from repair jobs. I'd salvage the right terminals with a foot of wire and splice them in to the original harness.

It's a 2006 Honda Civic. I have replaced thermostat and the sensor. That was the codes that was popping up. I was told it can't be spliced but that just might be Honda sticking to policy. Thx for response.

That didn't answer a single question I asked. Try again.
Right now I can only guess at what the problem is, because you can't seem to communicate what I need to know.
There is more than one coolant temp sensor in that car. Did anyone pick the correct one to replace?

Maybe they just don't have someone that can do the necessary task?
It can be fixed without replacing the entire harness. I have done it every time I get one of these.
