ATF filter change help
ATF filter change help
Anybody got any tricks on how to get to the thing ? I removed the air cleaner and and took 2 seconds before I screamed "WTF !"
How do they expect to get to it and change it ?
Tight is tight, but anybody DIY this one- and can give advice ?
I did the fluid change- piece of cake, and was hoping to get the filter done at this time.
Thanks.

Re: ATF filter change help
it may be easier to get it from under the car. but all you need is a pair of pliars (with fat grips, not needle nose) to squeeze the clips off and slide the hose off the filter. careful not to spill too much atf all over. you may need to add a bit more too when youre done to make up for what was trapped in the filter. also its a good idea to add some fluid to the filter so its not dry when first installing.

I was thinking that -from under and behind the engine. yikes.
You have to work blind and there is very little slack in the hoses (short hoses too) to deal with.
I am looking into removing the cowl cover to see if I can gain some inches there as well.

Re: ATF filter change help
is it easier to remove the other ends of the hoses? like where they go from the filter (prolly to the trans cooler outputs or something. that way you take out the filter with hoses still attached. then swap the filter, and put everything back in. i believe the filter has a single bolt holding it in the housing. then it will be loose and pull out.
