06 civic not going into gear

So yesterday my tail lights werent working, today we put in new bulbs thinking that was wrong. But if I pushed on the brakes the lights worked.
Now neither is working and my car wont shift into gear, the fuses are reading as working, and the bulbs are new?

Helpppp?

Re: 06 civic not going into gear

Someone at 8th gen Honda site had intermittent brake lights and shift interlock issues and it turned out to be a faulty brake switch as the problem.

Re: 06 civic not going into gear

I would second the faulty brake switch. If you do replace it, make sure you get the correct one, i.e. for a car with cruise control if yours is equipped with such. My girlfriend was given the incorrect switch even after telling the guy at the parts store the car had CC. We didn't figure this out for quite a while (CC was still not working in car), and by that time she had thrown away the box and receipt, so she was out ~$30...

If it isn't going into gear...try pushing in the clutch first......might help....
