Wiper Replacement WTF???
Wiper Replacement WTF???
Okay, I need to replace my wipers already on my 07 Civic EX Cpe. I can't see when it's raining, the wiper smears the water like crap on the driver side. Now to start off; where do I get a set of these funky wiper refills? Autozone doesn't show it on the book and I just checked the CSK website and they also don't carry them. I did a google and didn't get much luck either. Do I have to go to the dealer? As far as installing them I was reading on other threads that people are saying they are downright impossible to take off and put on without damaging the refill? I'm not very impressed at all by these so called wipers. Why couldn't Honda stick with what has worked for years for every other auto maker?!! Any input I could get would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
first off.....relax man! lol
next, it cost like 12.00 for both refills on your 8th GEN Civic.
Thirdly, goto Honda and get em'
Last....a simple clip at the end of the wiper pops straight up and the refill slides right out.
Easy as PiE!

You were right FGCoupe. At my dealer they were like 7.87 each and they were a walk in the park to install.
Whoever's having problems installing these must not be able to pump their own gas.

Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
Anyone know the p/n for the little clip at the end of the wiper? My g/f went to the dealer the other day to get new blades, and the idiot tech noticed the clip was gone, told her about it, but didn't offer to get a replacement p/n, price, or part
Rather than go in and try to talk to the parts counter monkeys to figure out the p/n, I thought I'd try to see if yall knew anything first...

23, 24, 28, or 29. I think he meant one of those. 19 is the cover for the arm bolt. Good find on the diagram though. ATTN: BCool you should Bsure to Breppin' gearbox for his assistance.

Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
ive never heard it either. i have several chips, but that was due to huge pepples flying at me in a stupid construction zone. they sell something similar to rain-x called diamondite spray, it actually is supposed to reduce the chance of rock chips while also beading water. they use it on airplanes all the time.
Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
I replace the wiper blade with Honda OEM refills that were surprisingly cheap ($5 each) at the Honda dealer.
This is for a 07 Honda Civic EX 4 door. However, the little triangle cover-clip prove next to impossible to remove and in the process, I broke both right and left clip covers. They are cosmetic so the wipers work fine.
I think this is a design flaw as at the Honda dealer to day, I look at the later 09 models and Honda has redesigned the wipers and done away with the clip/cover. So it must be a pitb item
all for now

Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
I have a 2006 EX Sedan, I think that the manual is poorly written regarding the wiper blades, and Honda dropped the ball in designing them.
In taking the blades off, I found that it is more important to pull than it is to squeeze. I had to pull pretty hard. After I was able to get the assembly off, I wen't to O'Reilly's and picked up some Bosch blade replacements. They are WAY easier to install.

Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
Just finished reading through a myriad of posts on changing the wiper blades. There must be more than one type of wiper blade assembly (part #26) because there is no tab to "simply pop up" on the end of my blade. I did find the description of the blade assembly that I have on my 06' Civic EX sedan. Removing the cover to the clip where the blade attaches to wiper arm states that you squeeze the plastic inward toward the blade and pull. This was a useless exercise. You need a flat blade screw driver which you insert in the groove perpedicular to blade. Gentile twist the screw driver to force the cover in the direction that you would logically pull the cover. From there it is easy to follow the direction in the manual to detach the blade from the arm.
Now you must remove the wiper blade (#27) from the blade assembly. There were no clips on the ends my OEM blade assembly! Rather the entire blade assembly is covered in a rubberized material and at the end of the assembly the rubber can be easily pulled back exposing the end of the wiper blade. Make sure you are at the the end of the blade that says "lock". Grab the end of the blade insert with a needle nose plyers and pull. It slides out easily. Good luck.

Re: Wiper Replacement WTF???
I could not agree more with post #15. In fact pulling the cover was a useless exercise. Insert a flat blade screw driver into the groove that is perpendicular to the blade and proximal to the cover. Gently twist the screw diver to force the cover in the direction that you would logically pull the cover. The Honda manual then explains how to unclip the blade assembly from the wiper arm.
There must be more that one type of OEM blade assembly (#26) for my 06" Civic EX Sedan because there where no clips to "simply flip up". Instead, the entire blade assembly is covered in a rubberized material. At the end of the blade it is easy to push the rubberized covering up and expose the end of the blade insert. Make sure you are at the end of the blade that says "lock". Grab the end of the blade insert with a needle nose plyers and the insert slides out easily. good luck.

Just remember that the only 8th gen civics you have to mess with refills on is the 06-07 SEDAN. The rest of the civics (06-10 Coupes and 08-10 Sedans) have more common wiper arms and wiper sizes so you can get aftermarket replacement wiper blade assemblies that snap right on the arms.
Just make sure you look-up the make, model and year - and keep an eye on trim/body style - of your civic in the application guidebook or by Googling 'lookup wiper size'. Just pay attention and you'll be ok.
I ended up going with 'Trico Tech Beam Blades' on my 07 Coupe. Got them online and they work AWESOME!
Hope this all helps others...
