Hi I'm new to the forum and I apologize in advance if this topic has been "done to death".

I just picked up my new 06 LX manual last Saturday and did some research about breaking it in (running-in to the Brits). I found this site on the net that suggests something very different.

I was hoping someone could take look and comment. Here's the link:

well you have probably driven it too far to make a difference so i would just cary on with normal break in process... if you haven't drven it far at all, go for it everything he sai8d maikes 100% sense to me and this is th emethod i will be using to break in my motors from now on.

If this is correct, then you would expect Honda to perform this initial break-in on the dyno. They do dyno test each engine don't they?

Well I Donno About A Complete Dyno, They May Hook Up Some Schematic Bs But Not A Full Dyno

I can not imagine Honda performing a dyno on every engine they build. Maybe on the higher end models.

Just drive it normal.

Honda does not dyno test all engines. They just build them and install them in the cars. Modern engine manufacturing is so precise there is no need to do this type of testing, which the brilliant Dr. Edwards Deming referred to as "mass inspection", a wasteful practice that is made unnecesary by eliminating variability in the build process. All manufacturers are well past this kind of sloppy practice. They will generally "batch sample" routinely to ensure nothing has gone awry in the process, however, and will make adjustments as needed.

The article quoted is basically a load of antiquated hogwash dating from the 40s & 50s, when engines were made out of crap and were lucky to go 40k miles without major repairs. Just drive it, you'll be fine.
