So I'm not sure exactly what happened, but my gas mileage went from around 26-30mpg to 40mpg between my last 2 fill ups.
I had my oil changed, spark plugs replaced, added fuel injector cleaner to one tank of gas, cleaner K&N, and venom400 unit installed (theoretical 1-3mpg loss).
I know some of the things I did would be expected to increase MPG slightly, I didn't expect such a gain and wondering if anyone had any insight to offer.
I'm wondering what other people have done that has successfully increased their gas mileage... share your thoughts.

Re: Gas mileage increase_share thoughts
it could be driving style too. i have gotten anywhere between 15mpg to 42mpg in my civic due to driving style. the highest mileage will be attained by driving all highway miles at constant speeds around 60mph.
in general, here are some things ive done to slowly increase or keep my hi gas mileage, which has increased substantially from 34-38mpg from factory. after driving around 20k miles, your mileage will also improve once the engine is completely broken in.
change plugs every 1-2 yrs with ngk coppers.
clean air filter every year or so.
my rims are 15s, weighing 13.6lbs each
i have intake and exhaust mods
also have HVS-GT voltage regulator
i use lubecontrol.com products ALL the time
keep tires around 35psi
change oil every 6 months or 5-6k miles
my car is not loaded with heavy crap
but most importantly, if you beat the car it will use gas like crazy.

Re: Gas mileage increase_share thoughts
i just put in NGK v-power plugs, my rims are HEAVY - 18'' Chrome (haven't ever weighed them put probably > 30lbs each), tires @ 35psi, oil change every 5k w/ mobil clean 5k, i took heavy crap out
what does a voltage regulator do? you have a link to some reading on that?
Would ignition ground wires do anything to help mileage or power/responsiveness? can you replace just ground or do you have to do all the ignition wires?
thanks for your input

Re: Gas mileage increase_share thoughts
no they are not specific, idk why they are listed there is only one kind. also helps to upgrade the factory ground wires with 4 gauge and gold ring terminals but you can do that yourself with some stereo ground wire.
we have ignition coils on 01+civic which are already better than wires.
heavy rims are killing your mileage, not to mention acceleration.

Re: Gas mileage increase_share thoughts
but they look so cool
. If i could sell them and pick up something lighter, but still in an 18 or 19, I would go for it. But if I can't sell the ones I have i'm not gonna spring for new ones.
40mpg isn't too shabby considering the heavy rims, my acceleration has improved w/ the venom unit as well. I realize it could be much better w/ lighter wheels. I'll have to try to work something out.
how much 4ga ground wire would I need? Just 2 gold terminals?
would you say the v-reg is worth $225? I can probably swing it i'm just looking for opinions.

Re: Gas mileage increase_share thoughts
i doubt its worth the 225, thats alot for what it is, but if you got the money go for it. yea just keep the rims if you getting 40 already, thats still really good. for grounding, the stock wires are prolly no more than maybe 4 feet, and youll need gold rings for each of the 3 wires, so 5 rings, and for one wire you need a new battery clamp they sell at auto stores.

Re: Gas mileage increase_share thoughts
its the older model made by same company. i had the MR before and upgraded to the improved GT. but even the older one will help a little. theres prolly not much difference.
