alarm installation?
alarm installation?
I've read that the installation is the most important part of an alarm. so how do I know if someone knows what they're doing?
Also, I'm interested in what features I can and should get on a $300 budget.
thanks,

DEI viper 800esp will fit your price range. nothing wrong with circuit city. best buy is trash. our cars are easy to do.
and im not just saying that because im a circuit city installer....besides, even if we do fudge up your car, our insurance will cover it....i did my alarm myself, before i even became an installer, and it was easy. placement of the actual alarm doesnt matter as long as the install itself is good. ive done them under both drivers and passangers side dashes and under a seat too..

but is there anything i should look for specifically? like making sure the installer is certified? or making sure they solder the wires and not using connectors? those are some of the things i've read. Anything else like that I should look for?

yeah, certification usually means about nothing, other than arrogance.
they either got certified to show off, or because it was required and they dont give a rats ***. neither should you.
its a tough call for sure, if you dont know anyone, just gotta hunt around, basically

good luck finding a shop that actually solders all teh connections..... very destructive to the resale value of the vehicle and takes forever to boot, t-taps are far more common.
im not saying they are better, im just saying that there are good reasons why almost no shop actually solders (despite circuit city telling me they only solder.....)
