hollow metal tube ..... imagine a pry bar that is hollow so you can slip it over the ratchet to give you more leverage.

no we have all the leverage we needed. its just not enough torque to get it off. we were stripping the bolt we were trying so hard.

That's odd. I didn't have any problems getting mine off. There only supposed to be torqued to 30 some odd pounds. Are you talking about where it connects to the head or the exhaust pipe

I know it doesn't sound like much but, have you tried to spray the bolts with wd40. If not, spray em' down and wait a few minutes then try again.

All of the nuts and bolts that connect to the head are like this ?? I really hate to ask this but, are you sure you are trying to turn the bolts in the correct direction. I'm sure you are so, my only piece of advice is to take it somewhere.

Weird....but you'd be surprised what that "cheater" bar would do...I couldn't get my crank shaft bolt off no matter what i did...But i finally got it off with a metal pipe or a cheater bar to help with leverage.

you see the leverage isnt a problem. my dad is pretty damn swole so he can push hard as **** while i support the wrench or whatever.

hmm. weird.

must be something else then if torque isn't the problem. but u do know that having more leverage does a lot more than brute force right?

i mean, at this point. u should try anything.. an extension bar doesn't hurt.

have u ever reinstall the header or anything? cuz that thing is only suppose to be on like... I posted it before.. about 27 lbs.ft of torque.. thats not very much.

only thing I can think of is.. somehow someone overtorque the header when initially installing it (some nut with an impact gun, *shrug*) and somehow stripped the bolt and its now stuck in there cuz the threads are stuck together...

I just learned what a cheater bar is too! haha. The cheater bar will Add torque to your turn. It is just a hollow metal tube that fits over the rachet. We used one of those big flashlights for ours.
I am assuming you are talking about the spring loaded bolts? They are a pain in the ***. Just cut them! haha.

if your bolts are giving you a problem just run the car for a while until they get nice and hot, put on some gloves so you don't burn your knuckes, then go at it again. They should come off easier with a little heat. Same thing works good for stubborn O2 sensors.

Goto any major autopart store and buy something called PB Blaster, it 10000000x better then wd40, or any other loosener for nuts, bolts, i had the same issue "header bolt" and i used that, sprayed all of them, waited 5 mins, they came right out no probs, put it this way, on the can it self, it tells you it WILL melt a plastic cup, so that gives you an idea of how strong it is
