Shifter wear and tare

Right now I have a DC Sports adapter on my shifter. I was wondering if when I shift hard (like at the tracks) I put wear and tare on my shifter component? and if there is anything I can get to prevent that?

The faster and harder you shift, the more you're going to wear on the synchros... Only way to really prevent it is to not shift hard.
Its just one of those things you can't prevent if you race. When they go, you replace them... thats really all thats to it.

charges $106 for the synchronizer, and you need 5 if you burn them all, which probably wouldn't happen... but I would imagine the labor to install it is more than what it takes to do a clutch. If I had to guess a total price, I'd say $900.

since u have the DC adapter.. becareful in that the adapter sometimes... actually falls off due to vibration and etc...
its held down by that hex nut right? yeah.... its not very stable IMO..
this neuspeed adapter I use to have required drilling... and it woudln't go anywhere at all.

You'd know when your synchro's were gone because when you tried to shift, it wouldn't go into gear. If your synchro's go you actually do have to "double clutch" and not granny shift when shifting from say like 3rd to 2nd, if your 2nd gear synchro's were gone. Once you got used to it, it wouldn't be that big a deal. I'm not sure on this, but I think a new Transmission is only like 1000... plus you'd also have to have it installed.
I have a short shifter on my car, and the way to shift properly, is to push it toward the gear you want, and then pause for like a split second just as the resistance increases, then push it in the rest of the way, this gives the sychros some time to spin the layshaft up to speed.
Plus, I'm sure that split second isn't going to matter that much on the kind of track racing you do. Unless you're going for big prize money, I'd just take it easy on your tranny, and try to do the best in cornering...

1st gear has synchro's or else you wouldn't be able to put it in gear, while your car was in motion, i'm pretty sure 5th does also, or else I wouldn't be able to go from 2nd to 5th so easily when going 50MPH. Also if you read in the manual, it says somewhere that "All forward gears are fully syhncronized"
Reverse doesn't have synchro's because of the way the gears are engaged, in reverse, you physically are pusing 2 sets of gears together, while in the forward gears, they're constantly meshing, you're just selecting which gearset you want to use.
