Question changing the instrument cluster

hello can someone tell me if replacing the instrument cluster of a dx with an lx If I have problem and if the tach work good??
and If i lost my currrent miles when I replaced with the new cluster??
my car have 25,000 ,miles and the cluster is 30,000 who if It works??

If I swap now with Only 25,000miles and my new cluster is 30,000 what miles will be displaying the odometer?? because the ecu saves the information If that correct If I swap now the display maybe 25,000 because there store on the ecu please tell me.
.
Thanks

I don't know this for sure, but I think the ECU stores and sends the milage to the instrument cluster, so changing the clusters won't screw with your mileage. As far as the tach working, I have no Idea.

I've had my cluster sitting in my closet for sometime now. I was going to send off to get reprogrammed to my current milage once I got my other car running again.

From what I understand each ecu has its own unique tag/id. If the cluster sees different id, it rests itself. So in theory If you put in your old cluster the ecu should flash it the current millage. Don't know of anybody who has tried this. There should be a way to rest the cluster through the ecu. Far I as I know no dealer has this ability nor do I think honda wants them to.

This is a dilema because some peple said that the ecu stored the information of the odometer and others tell that the milage stay in the cluster because if had a chip that store the information.

is a very interesting topic??? I am waiting for someone that have made the instrument cluster swap that can help me; I have the new cluster in my closet waiting to swap; but becuase this issue I am not sure I am expect that someone can help me thank you for your replies guys

FYI: The ECU doesn NOT store the mileage, according to HONDA, the Cluster stores the mileage. If someone was foolish enough to swap the clusters, the milage would be of that on the new cluster. BUT there are ways, mechanically to give rough estimates of actual mileage on a car.
