how FAST DOES AN MANUAL GO COMPARED TO A STICK?
AHH YES THIS IS WHEN PULLEYS DO THE JOB. I HAVE HIT 130 MPH. AND I STILL HAD RPM's BEFORE REDLINE, I SLOWED DOWN CUS I WAS HEADED SOUTH BOND ON I-5 (FOR THE WEST COAST PEOPLE) NEAR REDDING CALIFORNA, NOT A GOOD AREA TO SPEED ROAD CONIDTION WAS BAD.
Pulleys, exhaust, headers, whatever.....it isn't the HP that limits the cars. If you could bolt on 200HP worth of parts you would still be limited to 125ish in an EX manual. As far as people going 130+ with a non modded ECU? :zbsflag: !! Either the speedo is off...or they are just plain lying. And this question has only been covered about 272864 times.
Yeah, all of our cars are limited, unless they have been moded no to be. The limit may be different for EDM, and ADM but other than that, you can only got as fast as the ECU says you can. For me it was 189km/h = 118MPH then the ECU kicked in. I was on a 4 lane highway with noone arround so I hardly felt the speed, I only felt like I was stopped when I slowed down to 100km/h... and I have no doubt that it would have gone faster if it wasn't for the limmiter.
Yes, it's an Acura EL

Hit 180 kmk/h once - never gonna do that again, I saw a cop in the distance and had to slow down pretty quick....otherwise HUGE ticket....freaked me out cos I can't afford a ticket or the insurance hike that comes with it.

EX's ARE governed I have one, the only time I got over 125 was going downhill. There isn't a kcik or pop or anything...the car just doesnt go any faster. The rev limiter on the other hand makes itself known when you hit it.

btw, that probably was the wind resistance or rev limiter and whatnot since the gearing is a lil shorter.
see, at 120 mph, the automatic is at 5k rpms and in my manual 120 mph is like on 6k rpms... which makes better use of the power band?? the manual since it is closer to its peak hp at like 6500 rpms.
135mph on the altamont. 2001 EX 5spd transaxle. Intake and exhaust.
You know i suspect that there may be a limitation on speed due to the stock air box not being able to pull in enough air.....just a thought.

Also, I need this whole "jackstands" explained to me. I may be wrong, but if your car is on jackstands isn't it going no where? How can it go 160?
