It's a CAI that will allow the possibility of hydrolocking the engine. It doesn't matter what brand of CAI........any CAI allows for the possibility of hydrolocking.

For the bypass to work the filter needs to be all the way submerged.
i don't know why people are so scared of hydro locking...the only posibility of doing that is if your whole freaking bumper is submerged into water....if the whole filter isn't submerged it won't suck up water. Plain and simple...i've had a aem cai through the winter and had no problems...

Oh, and norcalsi, it wasnt even halfway up my bumper when it happened to me.
first time posting, so sorry if I screw it up. I was wondering if I get an aftermarket fromt bumper that exposes the injen cai filter to wind and potentially rain, how likely am I to hydrolock my engine? Also is it possible to activate an AEM bypass valve manually? I'm not sure how the bypass valve works, so if someone could explain that'd be great. Thanks.

The AEM Bypass valve doesn't work like that. It works on air pressure. When the filter gets submerged in the water, air pressure drops and water begins to be sucked up the CAI. When this happens the Valve is opened by the pressure and releases the water before it reaches the throttle body.

I just received my AEM CAI V2 lately and its kinda NOT a CAI...
the filter comes to somewhere close to the battery and not underneath the car, like the CAI v1
sound is sweet and i can see a little performance gain. and i've put my worries asside since the filter is way up (a little like where the stock air intake was)
one problem is, at the ignition, there's something that seems to be knocking somewhere. and its not the pipe knowcking under the hood cuz i tried once with the hood opened.
if any of you have this intake installed successfully without this little knocking noise at the ignition, pls msg me at tran_kien@hotmail.com
thx
