Problem w/ Clearing Headlights

We have them apart, but the 2 screws we need to take out are weird.

it says use philips, but it's 6 sided....

and there's a little stud in the middle so we can't put anything far in there...

what to do!!!

I believe the 2001 civic has phillips. I have a 2002 and it was torx. You might be able to get an allen wrench to fit, but I had a torx driver for cell phones and it fit perfect, so thats what I used.

I ran into same problem, if you dont want to run to the store , just use a pair of vise grips and turn it in the same direction as you would with a screw driver. I had the same problem when I cleared my friends 2002 2 door. Post pics when you get them all done =)

you can either go and buy a torx set, or use a very tiny screw driver and wedge it in the head of the screw....which ever is cheaper is what i say

and the screws are diff. on 01 and 02 mod.

I cleared my sedan lights a while back and everything was much easier to do. The glue softens in the oven, and the inside is no problem to take apart. Don't know why people say the coupe is easier.

in my 03, i got the right ones off fine. for the left ones...i the star screw was stripping and it wasn't comin off. so i broke the tabs holding the amber peice in place, and shimmied the peice out of its compartment, and took it out of the headlight assembly via the headlight hole. do it VERY carefully, you could scratch the chrome.
