Unhappy Muffler sounds

I have a powertech (universal muffler) dtm style 3" tips, and a 2.5" inlet. I had my car repiped from the cat back with 2.25" piping. When my car is cold and the muffler is even in the summer if I'm at an idle for couple minutes cruising and i rev it up i hear this ping sound kind of like the baffles are like overloaded or something it doesn't sound too good for my i don't know what to do....I thought about getting dual exhaust for it. Any suggestions, or ideas of what I should do? 2 things i want to know WHY it makes the windy pingy sound and second what's my fix?

Go back have a 2.25" resonator (18-22" long) welded on.

Too much airflow....muffler can't take it. Thus you get the annoying sound.....

$35-40 installed.

I too was wondering about the resonator. How much HP does it steal? (how much HP is gained by removing it?...)

You will gain nothing more than the riced out weed-eater sound.
