Amsoil

For my next oil change I'm planning to go synthetic, I have around 18,000 miles. I looked at several oils and I decided to go with Amsoil, I don't know what grade oil to go with, will the 5w20 be good or should I go with 0w20 or 5w30??? Also any one on this site using amsoil, I appreciate the feedback, let me know if amsoil is worth spending ~$55 for a case?

5W20 is what Honda recommends. I wouldn't go with 0W20, that is too light. 10W20 or 10W30 is fine too.

most people on this site are nuts. they change their oil every like 2-3k, even though the manual says 5k. I don't see why you can't get at least 8k out of synthetic. most people will say "how can you go that long?" They are just overly paranoid. Some people even change their expensive SYTHETIC oil every 2-3K. They are nuts. I was going to go sythetic, but decided not to.

i use amsoil 5w20 and it works great but i dont buy by the case i usually just order what i need and for changing it i change every 5,000 miles 2-3 is crasy espically on synthetic plus some guy at a oil changing place kept telling me my oil looks brand new when he changed it and said that i am wasting money by changing it so earlier (this is when i did it every 3,000 miles) so he told me to do it every 6,000 but i decided to do it every 5,000 amsoil is a very great product top of the line synthetic to me and to companies around here. when i get my oil changed they always tell me my oil is very very clean and looks like i can go another 5,000 miles -=] so i give it a 10 out of 10.

I did fall for that marketing idea of 2-3k miles intervals.

Now it's pure 5-6k miles because i'm not that stupid.

5w-20 is the way to go. Amsoil is great. I thought about buying it buy the case but figured why? My next oil change will be about 5 or 6k later i'll just get more then. synthetic is worth the money.

IMO form what i heard amsoil uses alot of synthetics which help clean the engine. My friend form clubsi told me about it. So even after 5k miles your oil and engine it still pretty clean.

I can't see any reason to put syn in our cars. We drive civics not teg gs-r, s2000, or anything even close to making a $40-50 dollar oil change worth it.

I mean, take all that money and get a nicer car or something. Your honda will hit a 150k on regular oil with ease.
