What % of civics are made in Japan?
What % of civics are made in Japan?
We just bought ours a week ago. I will not buy an automobile manufactured anywhere buy Japan.
I had to look all over hell to locate a silver sedan EX that was built in Japan.
Plus, did you guys know that there aren't any manual Civic's made in Japan? And I couldn't find a white one either.
I am so happy that we did get one that is made in Japan. My mom has a Canadian built 2002 Civic, and when we parked them side by side, our Civic's build quality advantage becomes apparent.
I maybe found <5% of the Civic's on lots in CA are Japan built. That is a real shame.

if you guys look on your sticker it will say the origin of the tranny and engine, the only thing in the coupes thats made in japan is the tranny the rest is all assembled in ohio including the engine, its not japanese made, just japanese designed. READ your window sticker it says right on it..
I think all the coupes are made in the US. A lot of the sedans are made in Canada, but I think the EX sedan, which is only sold in the US, is made in the US. The Canadian LX is different than an American LX, it has additional equipment, but not quite as much as an EX. The Si is made in Great Britain. The Hybrid is made in Japan. I don't know how you would go about getting a regular Civic from Japan since the North America facilities can meet the demand.
Well guys, I would hate to disagree with you, but it is lesson time.
Not ALL Civics are assembled in America. The way to discern this information is in the VIN.
If the first 2 digits are:
1H, then it is a Honda built in America
2H, then it is a Honda built in Canada
JH, then it is a Honda built in Japan
SH, then it is a Honda built in the UK
W, Then it is build in Germany
My Civic was assmebled in Suzuka, Japan. It says so on the window sticker. And, I have a "J" VIN number.
And, the percentage data is an average for all the cars of the lineup, not for the specific car that the sticker is on.
Obviously, it appears that a very small number of Civics are Japan built.
