HELP!!! 7440 Bulb install???

I know this has come up before but I searched and it hasnt been properly discussed. I need to know what and how much to cut out of the front turn signal socket to fit 7440 turn signal bulbs in without problem. I wanna clear my lights today, so the faster you guys reply the better. I am gonna go buy some silicone and check this when i come back.

I think he chose the 7440 bulb because it is single filament. This would mean that the light would only be on when he used the turn signal instead of being on all the time.

Yes, I did buy them so I wouldnt have yellow bulbs on when I am driving. I have tried to put them in before and they didnt fit. So I am pretty sure I need to mod something.

Mine is a coupe. The first headlight I did went smoothly until I had to reinsert the chrome piece and the damn thing touch the melted black rubbery stuff. ALL over the chrome, took me forever to get off. The second one was easy. Now that I have cleared 'em I could do it pretty quick tho. All in all it wasnt too bad. I just filed these nubs on the 7440 bulbs and they ended up fittin. Slystad810, if you have any questions, just PM me.
