never done it, thought about it though this is what i came up with ...romove the bumper, carefully cut the grille out and somehow rig the mesh up there........i have looked at the grille before and it is all one piece with the bumper....

spoon i think we might be talking about two different grilles........i have removed my bumper many times, the upper grille can be removed by removing the screws, although the lower grille is made into the bumper as far as i can tell............i have looked it over a couple times but not in depth

check out the DIY for removing the bumper, once done instinct will guide you to remove the grilles. you can purchase one that sports a mesh type grille rather than cutting up your stock piece.

why you want to cut it all up?? people w/ turbo's are the ones that have to do that. You can still put a lower mesh grill in there w/o cutting it all up.

You can just cover it up with a mesh grill insert. You can always return to stock if you want and you get the protection from rocks and maintain more stable of a front bumper. Just get a precut one of ebay or go down to Home Depot and buy some mesh and cut it out using a cardboard template.

ok, since i didnt see a reply to the question, I will tell you this. You have to cut it out. its not an easy thing to do to get it looking perfect. I did mine & it was a bitch. I used a hacksaw blade & a dremel tool to trim the edges. Get a game plan & a plan B just incase you screw things up. I tried using epoxy to mount the mesh & that crap dont work at all. I ended up drilling little holes & zip tieing it on there. You can see any of the zip ties, but over the year its been done, the mesh has ripples in it.

In the pic I have, you cant really see it bit here it is:
