ATTN: mechanics: overheating help
ok. my friend has a 99 impreza 2.5 RS with an aftermarket turbo.
recentl he has had problems with the car overheating and we couldnt quite figure out what to do.
we replaced the water pump, thermostat and radiator with new oem ones.
and now the car is still overheating.
and ideas on what it may be? we dont know what to do...
thanks.

get a big innercooler.
remember when you upgrade something in your car you can't just upgrade one thing. ex. its useless to put just a header on your car without upgrading the rest of the exhaust system.

yea..... your might need a bigger intercooler..... depending on how big
the aftermarket turbo is... factory intercooler is not strong enough to cool aftermarket turbo

Pretty sure it aint the intercooler guys.
This site doesnt do anything other than state the obvious. Gotta love civic owners, it's kinda funny in a way. Bigger turbo doesnt always mean bigger intercooler to prevent overheating rather than running more pounds, but of course the word 'interCOOLer' threw your superior knowledge off; nice try tho.
SS: how did you narrow it down to the head gasket?
Did you check it at it was nasty or came from another conlusion. If it is your gasket I suggest the exhaust manifold one highly. My buddie with a TSi fried his a few months back.
