Drivers with 3 pedals.....
While sitting at a red light, does it matter if you sit with:
1. Clutch in, 1st gear
2. Clutch in, Neutral
3. Clutch out, Neutral (obviously)
I'm just wondering if anything can happen with any of those cases.... is there a *best* way to do it?

I don't think that it matters. How ever you feel comfortable. When I drive a stick I usually put it in netrual with the clutch out and a foot on the break when I am at a light. Now when I am on a hill sometimes I might just leave it in first and with the clutch a little out and the foot on the gas just a little so that I dont roll back durring take off.

It dosent matter, when u have ur car in gear or not in gear and u put in the cluch. it engages it wich means ur cluch spins, it wears it down as if u were useing it but not really bad. But it just really depends on u, wich way ur more comfortable

there's really no need to have the clutch in when you're in neutral...
depends on the situation, if the light is going to turn soon.. I stay in 1st.. if I'm going to be sitting there for awhile, I stay in neutral..
generally its not a good idea to get out of gear so much though... I see a lot of people doing that when they slow down, they just shift to neutral and then brake... its generally not a good idea to do that when you're still in motion or other cars are around... what happens if you suddenly need to move the car? probably forget that you're not in gear.
in either case, thats up for debate i guess.

I shift to neutral and brake too, but if I need to shift again quickly like when I come to a red light, shift to N and start braking or coasting, and it turns green I shift to 2nd and go from there ....Dont know it thats bad or not

It really doesn't matter. It's personal preference. I switch between the first two. Basically, I clutch if I'm not gonna be at the light for long or if I forget to shift to neutral (yes, I do that a lot). Otherwise, I put it in neutral so I can take my foot off the pedal.
it really is a personal preference, although if you hold your clutch in it wears it out, not much but you know over time when your clutch does go out you can think damn if i only wouldn't have held my clutch in all those times.

having your clutch pedal in does not wear the clutch. It wears the throw out/release bearing. Its really not that big of a deal.

most times, i'll wait in 1st gear with the clutch in. If I know i'll be waiting for a while, i'll go to neutral and let off the clutch. I was reading somewhere about clutch wear when the clutch is engaged. From what I read, it's not bad for the clutch itself, but rather the throw out bearing or something like that.
