DIY: Ignited Push Button Start
I am posting this up for PleaseJoe. The place I installed mine is a direct replacement for the cig lighter. There is no cutting needed.
Yes, it's an Acura EL

This may sound real dumb (yes I am a moron) but with the push button starter installed, is it still possible to start the car with just the key? Or do you have to use the button for all starts?

that looks really nice, but i really dont like the positioning of it. dont you think its kinda a hassle to reach all the way over there to start the car. why dont you position it somewhere more easily accessable? maybe next to the key hole or by where your cruise on off swutcxh is. just my .02

No, I like it in that spot for a few reasons.
1. I didn't have to tear up my dash making a spot for it. It is a direct replacement for the cig lighter.
2. It's out in the open, so everyone can see it.
3. Easily accessable. Push the button, and then grab the stick in one easy motion.
4. I can let the passenger start up the car if they want.

do you think you can get that panel for the cig lighter in the euro version. where the driver is on the other side and so is the cig lighter? that would be better

You can go do whatever you want. It's your car. I like mine the way it is.
I hope some stupid robber doesn't think he can just break into your car, push that button and drive away.
I would cover that up if I were you. (or get really dark tints, or put a sticker that says "Car will NOT start without key" on the window)
