custom cat back exhaust!

im having a custom cat back made and installed on my car today! i need some help although its kinda too late to be asking for it. stock piping is what? 1 1/4? so im gettin a custom catback exhaust put in witth a 2 1/4 piping and a tanabe racing medalion muffler. its not mandrel bent but does it really matter??? our engines dont respond well to mods anyway so im figuring a real tanabe racing medallion exhaust may give us 4 hp and 5 ft lb torque. so now is it worth it to spend 400 more for the real thing?? cus im only payin $100 to get this custom exhaust made and put in? i figure 2 1/4 will put more air out than the stock 1 1/4 so ill be gaining somethign right?? and hopefully not LOSING???? oh yea i dropped off the car afterschool and im leaving it there ever night and it will b ready after school tomorrow!! i felt soo ackward leaving it behind. i felt like it was stolen from me.

You aren't going to lose, you'll gain some. The only thing is that the crush piping will give you more backpressure than mandrel bent which means that you theoretically won't gain as much. But you might benefit more with low-end torque than a person who has mandrel bent. I'm talking about small numbers here.

yes i understand thanks!!! u were on the money about the not gaining much. my logig to this crush bent pipe is... my exhaust ( full catback 2 1/2 ) $100 tanabe racing medallion $500 its not worth it to me to spend $400 more for 2-4 hp! i can get nos for 400 or less and add 15-50 hp instead of 2-4 from a mandrel bent exhaust!
