This may sound stupid to some of you guys, but I am not up to speed on electronics, wiring and schtuff like that. I already have some neons unstalled in my civic, and they are run to a switch (i paid to get that done... dumb me eh). Anyway, I have some more neons, and want to run them to the switch to. How do I go about doing that? Also, the wires are too short, can I make them longer? Thanks for help.

Basically yes. You can just use a simple 18 gauge speaker wire and run enough to make the extension to your switch from the device, use copper as your positive lead and the silver as your ground.

alright well that makes sense for the most part, but I need more detailled instructions (like maybe in the DIY section!). How do I connect the wires to the switch? A step by step instruction would be really appreciated! (i'm only 16, no experience with this)

This should probably be in the ice/electrical forum . . . I can give you a lil' help but i don't know how you're neons are connected. Well if you went out and got a switch you'd see 3 prongs on it, a power, ground and ACC(accessory). The power prong connects directly to you battery, the ground to a ground source(any screw that touches your cars chassis) and the ACC prong is for the power wires from your neons.

There should be 2 wires coming off of each neon, one is the power that goes to the ACC prong and the other one goes to a ground source. . . before you connect the power to the prong you will have to connect it to an inline fuse holder with the proper amp rating(this depends on how big, and how many neons you have connected). Thats about it besides mounting it and tearing apart the car to hide all the wires.

EDIT: And to make the wires longer just cut them and use a crimping tool or a lighter to take the plastic off of the wire, do it to another wire (the 18g. is fine) and twist them together (or do it right and go get a butt connector). Then tape it off good with electrical tape.

Just remember that metal conducts electricity, so as long as the metal from both wires is touching the current will continue to pass through the wires. If you look at the switch you'll see that when you flip it one end will either be touching the ACC or ground, and the power is always on. When it changes from ACC to you neons the circuit completes it's self but when the ground is switched on the power simply grounds it's self and the power never gets to your neons.

alright thanks that should help.

I was just out looking at the neons I have installed right now, and I think theres a thing called a transformer on it? They are street-glow two '9inch accent kit' neons. So yeah, i looked on the website and it says it comes iwth a transformer. Anyway, so the transformed is under the panel that is above the feet and pedals, and each neon plugs into the transformer, then the transformer goes up towards the switch (and probably somewhere else too).... Out of curiosity, what does the transformer do? does it just go to the switch, and then the switch wires to a power source?? if that is the case, if i buy more neons can i just put another wire to where the wire is going from the other neons (on the switch)..????

how to install them...

so I'm going to wire the neons to the same switch, so does that mean i can just wire the red striped wire to the same switch, and then follow the black wire of the other neons to wherever it is wired to the 'ground'?

IT would probably be best to get all the "red" wires into an inline fuse holder, and then run one single wire out the other end of the holder into that switch.
