help with door actuators

help with door actuators
I installed actuators over the weekend so I could have my doors ready for when I shaved them next weekend... but they dont seem to work right... I have them wired to my locks on my alarm... but I cant get them to have enough power to disengage the lock... does anyone have any ideas or anything?

What size do yu have...I have 75lbs ones..I have them hooked up to my aux button on my alarm also i belive when i had them put in the ran a seperate power wire iam not shure tho

I got ones that are supposed to be used for locking and unlocking doors I was told that they would work even though they are not heavy duty...and I have it hooked up to my inside door handle rod, but it wouldnt work cuase of the spring in the door handle so I took that out and now it works but it wont go back so I can shut my door... I have to re adjust the handle to do it

the problem I am having is that they dont pull hard enough to open the door...could it be a lack of power? sorry i dont know much about this stuff... I just experiement on my car

silverghost you are WRONG.
our cars have a negative ground. i would like you to go outside, open your hood, and look at the negative terminal of the battery. ok? now, look at that stringy thing coming off of it. thats a WIRE (wy-er) see where that goes? that goes to the chassis! AMAZING!

dude, two way actuators for door locks are NOT strong enough to open door latches. You need to go buy some real solenoids, at least 15lb pulls, but personally i wouldnt go lower then 30 lb pulls.

I guess your right... well I got them to work but the only problem is the door handle when i put that on it creates to much tension pushing the other way for the door to open... I was going to go with more heavy duty seleniods but the guys at the place said they use these all the time...
my shop can install trunk solenoids and pull open the doors. my door pops are 9 pound solenoids. you only need 30 pound solenoids fo rdoors like oldskoll muscle cars and big steel trucks. our civics are way too light.

my coworker HAS trunk solenoids in his doors, they work better than mine even, tho mine are more powerful.
where do you have the wires pulling? best bet is to pull on the small white plastic latch inside the door, so your not pulling on the inner or outer handle, which has another resistance spring.
installing door pops is the #1 hardest thing to install reliably, imo! (unless you have a 75 pound solenoid, holy jesus!)
but my bet, if htey dont pull strong enough, is #1, cable attatch point, #2 solnoid mount point, it needs to be SOLID, or #3, piston friction. i dont think its this, but some oil in there will take care of that real quick. good luck!

I have the actuator... they arent strong at all... and it pulls on the bar thats on the inner handle... right where it comes on the inside of the door ... if you get what im saying... well... I will try re mounting it later... thanks for the help
yeah, if its tugging on teh handle it will certainly not pull that, its gotta pull not only the door, but on that handle, and you know how much resistance that takes [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]
