Popping from suspension?

Anyone else get a single pop or click sound from the front suspension when they reverse and hit the brake in cold weather? I have only noticed it when it is around 20F degrees or colder. Mine is an LX coupe with 5-speed, has about 23K miles on it. Everything seems to be working fine and it handles great. Is there something that might need lubing at my next oil change (assuming there even are joints or whatever that can be lubed down there) or is this normal?

I had a popping sound on the front suspension but It only "popped" when the car would be turning, right or left. My dealer replaced 1 of the front coil springs & the popping sound was gone.

P.S. - Unless you can get your car to make that popping sound for the guys at the dealer, they're gonna tell you that there's nothing they can do. It took me 2-3 trips to the dealer before my car made the popping noise when they were around.

Its called brake pad shift and is caused by the small amount of clearance between the edges of the brake pads and the brake pad holders. The space is there to keep the pads from sticking as the holders usually get a little rusty. When you change direction with the car you hear a one time pop or click as the pads move slightly. It happens going forward also after you have backed up. The dealer will tell you this is a "characteristic" noise and doesnt mean anything is wrong.

Yeah, it's just the brakes reseating themselves in the morning - it does it to me once a day

i have the same prob, and it's definitely not the brake pads. When he says "pop" it is loud. Mine is anyway and I can feel it all the way inside the car to my seat. My guess is the spring or strut is bad and i havent checked it out yet. might as well save myself the trouble and take it to the dealer while i still have a warranty. peace....
