Stock Airbox.....

Any downside running on the stock airbox without the resonator?
I wanna do this temporarily until I pick up a K&N FIPK II.

Well it's winter time here in Canada and it's FREEEEEEEZING cold so I know I won't be sucking up to much hot air. Other then that, how would I be losing HP/TQ?

because colder air is a better burn which means more hp. the loss is not that significant.

I guess what I really wanna know is if the stock resonator is some sort of tuned box that in some way enhances performance? Or is it just there to reduce engine noise?

1. Reduces engine noise (hence the name resonator)
2. The air entrance is by the battery w/ an extension tube.... that helps bring some cold air.

What if i take out the resonator but i extend the intake ( from intake to the battery side w/o resonator ) so i still get cold air ?
or extend the intake to behind the bumper just using a hose ?

it still loud right?? but does it reduce the HP/TQ ?? .

That's a good question. I think if you use a metal pipe (2.5" diameter) it should be good..

Should still be as loud....try it.

why use 2.5" metal pipe? why not use 2.5 plastic/rubber pipe? metal pipe transfer more heat than plastic/rubber pipe
