Nitrous in an automatic?
Please dont flame- I did a whole bunch of searches with different options to make sure nothing like this was really discussed before, but I was wondering about how well automatics can handle nitrous? I've heard from some that they're better than manuals for nitrous because of the shifting issue, and I've heard from others that they're worse. Lets get a nice friendly discussion going, cause I'm interested. Please dont respond if you have nothing to base it off of besides the standard my friend told me nitrous sucked. Thanks

50 is ok as long as u have some mods, preping for the nos. and as for handlin, auto is better cause u dont have to shift...just hold the nos button till u the race is over....
While it maybe be true that you will have faster shifts, the amount of power loss to the wheels and the slightly heavier weight eliminates any edge you're gunna get compared to a manual unless we are talking about heavily modified cars. In general though I'd be willing to bet if a manual and auto with the exact same mods, and drivers with the same skill level, the manual would take the win. I'm sorry but in my opinion, and this is just my opinion, honda makes a crappy automatic transmission. IF I had bought an automatic one of the first things I would do is switch the trany. They are ok for small mods but at the point of getting nitrous it's time to start up grading more stuff. Not that the stock clutchs in the manuals are the best thing in the world but the autos by no means are either.
I'm sure one of you is going to say "i'm doing this and this and its just fine" or "my friend is doing this and it runs perfect" well to that I have to say "shut up" you and/or your friend are stupid idiots. If you are doing much to your cars you are going to have to up grade these parts sooner or later, might as well do it before you break something. Doesn't do you anyone any good to have the power if you can't control it.

I am going to stick with the fact that (left stock) the manuals are better for handling power than the automatics. But why even mess around? Don't swap to a manual...swap to a level 10 (www.levelten.com) Performance Transmission System if you plan on dragging or just street racing. These trans' are practically bulletproof...i have driven a friend's 99 EX coupe with a level 10 PTS AND IT DRIVES AWESOME. It chirps the wheels going in to 2nd and 3rd. If you want they will custom build one for you....a little pricey though but WORTH IT. The only downside is...stick is fun
ALSO:
Do not run any nitrous without upgrading to colder ( two steps recomended) spark plugs. Zex makes great plugs for nitrous.
