Great Big Problem....VAFC...Help fast!!
Ok, so here's the deal guys. I recently installed my V-AFC, I had the same check engine light like everyone else.
For about 2 weeks, I kept disconnecting the battery in order to have the Check Engine light go away because of the V-AFC.
But here's the problem, recently my car began to stutter, like I'll be driving, and the car will die at low RPMs, I tyr to restart it and the car dies. The car would also stutter when I let go of the gas.
Then my friend began pulling the O2 sensor on the intake, and it went away. So what do you think happened? How can I fix this? An 02 simulator? Maybe I reset the ECU too many times, and it's not used to all this air?

Maybe you accidentally pulled on some wire and it came loose from where ever it was connected. Check all your wires with a multimeter, this might be the problem and when your friend was pulling on the intake sensor wires, they made contact again.
Its a celebration bitches!

dam that is weird, the only problems that i have had are the light and not being able to rev over 4k sometimes... i know its connected right though.
i have concluded that the only time that the V-afc will work right and no engin light is when it is warm or hot outside... other than that it will not work right... such as the night or snow.

mine did throw a check engine light at first but we had the pressure wires backwards and the vtm wire wasnt cut goin towards the car. Now my friend who installed it recorrected the problem and its almost 2 weeks already and still no light. Im guessing when you pulled the vtec wires out u mustve accidently disconnected something else. Do you have any other settings that you have changeD? Sometime tommorow im gonna post up my dyno sheet so everyone can see im not lying or bsing or nothing, oh and when your resetting the ecu just take out the 15amp fuse to the ecu its alot easier and faster. Trust me. so hth.
You engine is stuttering because the Map sensor is sending incorrect data to the ECU. It has nothing to do with the wrong wires attached or cut or anything like that. Also, you will not be able to control the V-Tech portion of your car with the V-AFC, This is straight from Apex'i R&D. just disconnect the V-Tech part of the V-AFC and hook the wires back up like they were. If you set your AFC right you can make the Vtec shift a lot more noticeable anyways.

I had an V-AFC controller in my civic last week and I had the same exact problem with mine, the check engine would turn on, couldn't go past 4,000 rpm's and the car was shaking bad. I took it to our import shop in town, it was in the shop for 2 days and in the end, the controller had to go.
The guys called Apexi up and they sent them a fax saying that in 2002 the controller will not work. It will throw check engine lights depending if the car is cold or warmed up. They also said that it's because in 2002 the civics have 3 VTM wires, one when it's cold, one when it's hot and one when it's average temperature, the controler is looking for only 1 wire.
They tried conecting all wires, just one wire at a time and the check engine would still turn on depending to which VTM wire it was hooked up with. Apexi said that it works with 2001 and below, not 2002 and up yet, they're in the process of developing one.
Really made me upset, it worked nice when it did the few times and I didn't get a check engine, but not if lights keep comming on and it can't shift right.

Dont know if you guys have figured it out, but The VAFC CONTROLLER DOES NOT WORK, IT IS INCOMPATABLE WITH OUR ENGINE AND COMPUTER. YET THE AFC CONTROLLER WORKS. OR ATLEAST THATS WHAT I HEAR FROM OTHER POSTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM.
Actuely the AFC controller doesn't work either with our cars. 2001 and up Civics are ULEV (Ultra Low Emisions Veihicles) and the O2 Sensor sends out a different signal to the computer than the controler can put out. Therefore the AFC controller will not work either...sucks.

are you sure you didn't mean 2000 or below? because i have a 2001 ex (the one apexi posted a diagram for) and i have the same cold engine light problem.
PEOPLE, everything works, it's just the engine light. once u warm up your car until the vti doesn't jump like crazy, then reset your ecu. after that it works, i had vtec turn on at 4200rpm and off at 3500. AFC works too, it's just the engine light keeping ya to 4000rpm or below, thats how honda keeps your car from blowing up until you get to a mechanic.
btw, OBDII error code for the engine light is 1259 which is the "vtec solenoid" error code and the manual says to check the vtm connections of the stock ecu to the stock vtm sensor (no vafc) so it's a vtm problem.

btw o2 sensor has little to do with the VAFC...
there's no o2 sensor on the intake assembly, thats the MAS (mass airflow sensor)
o2 sensor are on exhaust manifolds or behind cat convertors.
seems like a conflict going on here. we got some saying all the features work and some saying the vtec controller feature doesn't work..
