Front Bumper Removal Q?
Just to let you know, I have read the DIY on Clearing Headlights and I have researched this topic...
I have a black ring around my wheel wells. It is similar to the door-ding guard on my doors.
Do I have to take this stuff off to remove my bumper?? And why the heck do I have this crap anywayz???
I borrowed a pic from MEX (thanks) showing what I am trying to do, and I circled where this strip is. It seems like it is just glued on. But I am not sure, was wondering if anyone has had to remove this. Please let me know any information about this. Thanks...
I have a 2001 EX by the way....

That black thing around your fender wells is for protection. If you take it off, all thats behind it is your tanny, and motor and all. The only reason its there is to help keep dirt and other stuff that you run over on the road from getting onto the sides ov your motor. Also it makes the car look good if its not lowered. But no you shouldent have to take that off to just take off your front bumper, it should just be like 8 screws where the hood meets the bumper. then there should be like 1 screw where the bumper meets the front fenders on each side. Why you putting on a body kit?

The only thing that needs to come out of the wheel well is the screw holding the top corner of the bumper in. That's it. You can leave the fender liner alone.

Sorry guys!!!! I needed to make it more clear. I know that the wheel well itself does not need to come off during bumper removal.
My problem is:
You know on your door hinge, they put a little strip of plastic/rubber to protect your door and others cars from door dings. Well, that same lining is lining the outside of my wheel wells. Front and back. It seems like it is glued on. If I take the front bumper off, this lining will be deattached from it. I kinda want to jus take it all off, from the front, back, and doors.
Has anyone removed this before? Is it the same type of deal as removing the "civic" and "ex" badges?
And with bumper removal, I took out the 4 black screw things on the radiator cover, and the screw from inside the wheel well. Should the bumper come off easily? I dont need to take it all off, jus bend it back so I can clear my headlights.
And with the headlights, should I just use the hairdryer method? The oven method seems a little shaky....
Thanks guys!

Ok, I think he's talking about some kind of "ding" protector for your wheel wells, not the plastic lining inside the wheel wells. All Civics don't have that (mine doesn't), It is something that the dealer put on the car & it won't matter either way if you take it off the car or leave it on. It's mostly cosmetic, won't affect the mechanicals of the car.

Im jus wondering if anyone else has run into this problem...
