when u open your doors your dome light comes on... but that would be a nice idea if you wanted a little project. front door panel removal is pretty easy. i guess i should do that since i always leave my dome light in the off position so it doesnt turn on when door open.

I'm gonna stick some LED's under the bottom to light up the ground when the doors open so you can see curb's and puddles and stuff. I'm planning on hooking them up directly to the dome light circut so their on the same time. I don't anticipate that it'll be that tuff. I already had the doors apart a couple times to do my 6 1/2's and my painted door panels.

i thought the wires for the dome light were all on the passanger side of the car, but i'm probably wrong. i would see this as a little problem having to string wires all the way to the driver's side and all.

however, i'm probably wrong because i've only pulled off my door panels once and it was a long time ago and i wasn't looking for wires.

I've thought of it before! I posted a few threads about this a while back. I think I may do this when I have the time. Looks k3wl and it's a safety feature.

Actually, i only have red reflectors in the Z, the dealer goes thru their whole dos and donts thing when i got it and they talked to me about it, they are all like, and these are your door reflectors, there are NO lights in them so dont call us telling us that the bulbs are burned out..... I guess a lot of manufactureres are starting to just put reflectors in without lights in them now. Figure if its light enough out youll see the door, and if its not youll see the reflector glowing in your headlights.

That makes sense, but I'de probably want a little light there too to see at night when you open the door.

It would be cool to have those. I would think you could just get some of those high power LED's and mount them above the foot area in the car and point them out and down, I would think that would work and you should have no trouble with the wiring, and they would be hidden for the most part.

You could always use EL Cable or EL Tape.
How about a Mini Cold Cathode

the way we did it in my buddies 4runner (and my civic) was we got lightbulbs and housing and put them under teh seats. plenty of light gets projected everywhere. on a relay we can use the smallest of current to activate the light. where does that current come from? the door pin switches! just t-tap one with a wire coming down and get that on the relay. open a door, and the light comes on. close a door, the light goes off. you can also put this in teh door if you wish, but under teh seat is 1000x easier
