Any engine experts in here?
I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of engine mods I can do to my 2001 Civic LX with an automatic transmission? If you have any suggestions, please let me know. If there are engine swaps I can do, do I need a certain type of engine? or can I use any engine I choose, that would be able to fit? I'm not much of an engine expert, but I would like to make my car fast, despite the fact that I have an automatic transmission LX. If I could afford an EX, I would, but I can't so I won't. Thanks!

injen/aem intake
k20 swap with HAsport mounts
DC headers
DC Strut BAr setup
Custom turbo
etc....
Making a fast car out of the civic will not happen anytime soon. some have forked out alot of money for a turbo/swaps, but over time companies will soon be intrested.

if i were you start saving up for the swap, you can do the basic bolt ones, and maybe some electrical mods to get a little more outta your Vic. Do a search and youll find out some stuff and when you got time go through the parts section of this site ans research

you can't put anykinda engine in there. i know the K20A2 will fit, i'm pretty sure the B series can to.
you can't get much from bolt ons. custom turbo is what most are doing. if not you can get all new internals and do serious head and block work. to me its not worht hte extreme amount of money cuz you will still only be an average car. if you get the apexi SAFC and run lean you may pull a few more HP from the mods. also a regrinded cam and pulley are some ratherinexpensive mods you can do and they're nice to have.

well if you wanna go fast you'll need a stage 1 chip to cut out hte rev limiter, ect.
not much HP from the basic bolt on system- mabybe 10-15
not much from turbo 160-200 WHP (4-8 PSI)
upgraded internals is your best bet with some head and block work

get the short ram intake called FIPK, it's the best intake out there right now for our vics, any other intakes don't give that much gains but they said with it you could get at least 4 hp.
Anyways, If I were you (and actually, having an automatic DX, I am like you) I would get 1)intake, either AEM or Injen 2)HP racing header 3)cat-back exhaust 4)50 shot of nitrous
Having that you'll easily beat other Civics without nitrous, and it won't be too expensive. Good luck!

Thanks for all you guys who posted up your replies to my question. You guys have helped me a lot, and in the proccess have taught me a lot. As soon as I get a the money, I'll hopefully add mods to my engine, and hopefully get a digital camera so I can show everyone what my ride looks like, so far. Thanks to all of you, this is a nice, comforting, 7th generation civic family! It's nice to see everyone helping each other out and giving tips to those who need it.
