engine didn't start. . .
All right. . i thought i posted this yesterday but i guess not. N/E ways, it was the middle of the afternoon, around 2:30 pm. . . I just got out of school and went straight to my car. As i put the key in and turned the ignition, the car just kept trying to start. So after about 4 seconds i stopped. . . i waited about a couple more seconds and decided to try agian. . .THIS TIME i still didn't start and i was holding the ignition a little longer. . . sooo i waited about 5 minutes and pushed my clutch down, AGAIN, and tried starting. . this time it finally worked. . . N/E one know what happened?? Is there something wrong with my ignition or the engine??? Has this happen to anyone?

Actually that has happend to me quite a few times. I've had my car for about 6 months now and i guess about 2 times a month it will not start right away. I have just over 4500 km on my car too so its pretty new still. So i took my car in to the dealership and they had it checked but they said they couldn't find a problem. So im not sure.... i heard our cars have really bad altinators so maybe that might be the problem

Um, I hope it's not as simple as this... You have to depress the clutch all the way to start our cars.
I always depress the clutch all the way and depress the gas pedal a little bit. Then I let go of the gas pedal and start the car. Then I let go of the clutch (making sure the car is in neutral).

Um, do you have a car alarm? IF you dont then this will be a waist of a post but oh well. I have a Viper alarm, and only since i got it does it do this. Everytime you turn your car on do you listen for the fuel pump to kick in before you make the engine turn over? IF not, then the next time you get into your car turn your key to accesories, you will here a sound of a little motor pumping the fuel to your engine before it starts. This maybe connected to my alarm or it may not be, everytime i call about it i get the run around from my dealership saying it is the alarm and then i call the place that put in my alarm and they say they don't connect anything to the fuel pump........ Anyway, yeah when my fuel pump doesn't kick in, i will get out have a cigarette and then get back in and damn thing works again. I just have patients with it now.

battery. our batteries suck..i just put an optima in mine. my battery died twice within a month so it was time to go. it also made a clicking sound one time but that was not the starter going bad.
Yeah, happens to me about once or twice a month as well. All i do is take the key out the ignition and depress the clutch and the put it back in and it starts right up. It doesnt really bother me that much, but the fact that the car only has 5000 miles, kinda makes me wonder.

I think the non-starting issues are stemming from the immobilizer chip in the key. Mine has done it once while my wife was trying to start it. She said the green key kept blinking which means the ecu isn't recognizing the key for whatever reason. You simply remove the key and reinsert and it should be fine.
Also, you will here the starter trying to turn the engine over. The immoblizer cuts the fuel, it doesn't do anything to any other part.
So, the moral of the story: Take key out and put back in. Take note if key keeps blinking or blinks a couple times and goes out.
