Question for all with painted interiors
Ok guys i tryed to paint my ac vents and my door handles, but on my ac vents when you slide the center adjuster back and forth it scratches off the paint underneath it. and then on my door handles the paint on the inside part didnt stick right so you can see the primer throught it. Help please, i dont know if i just used the wrong kind of paint or didn't sand enough so please help.

several very light coats of paint with about 5 minutes of dry time between each, and after about 5 coats let it dry for 24 to 48 hours, then very lightly buff the surface with wet/dry fine grit paper soaked in cold water. If your not happy with how it looks, let it dry and repeat the process again. Once you are happy, 2 or 3 very light coats of clear over it and let it dry for another day or 2.
When I painted my trim I didn't actually paint the lower grill piece of the ac/heat vents. I knew eventually these would wear off the paint. I even noticed were they were rubbing originally before I had painted them. I left them black and painted the rest, looks good in my opinion. As far as fixing yours, you'll either have to live with it or just order the vent part that actually moves from the dealer, isn't more than 10 bucks. Like OmegaBlue2k1 said, lots of thin coats, and def. use clear coat, that's the trick, also a clean invironment works good too.
