CVT = continuously variable transmission. My friend somehow got one on his 99 ex. Basically, there are no real gears. The shifting is done by belts, which gives virtually an infinite number of "gears". I don't know about turbo for an auto, but they will be expensive anyway.
You don't want to turbocharge a CVT transaxle. The belts will snap. They're not made to handle that much power. Unless you can find a way to beef up the belts, serious power adders like a turbo are a no-no. There is, however, a member that uses nitrous without any problems (yet) with his CVT.

Grey, it's still a problem with the 7th gen. Here's a recent quote:

im the guy that has the header, intake, exhaust, nitrous and some other stupid mods.yes ive been trying to beef up the cvt tranny. im a student at uti and working on cars and studying the cvts right now. the tests have showed that cvts can shift faster than manuals but there are still problems w/the cvt not holding. i just got a new cvt from honda because the other one was wearing out.not bad though. ill update u guys on the cvt stuff when i get further down the line. right now i am trying to take the leanburn out[hr]

bugsielo, you may be able to find more information at the HX club on Yahoo that I set up last year. The link is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hondacivichxcvt. There are a bunch of links to sites that discuss the CVT or the HX in general. There is also a lot of discussion in the group on experiences with the CVT.
