DIY - Wiring Sidemarkers to blink out of sequence w/ corner turnsignals
What it does:
The sidemarkers will turn on with the parking lights. When the turn signal is on, the sidemarker will blink out of sequence with the corner signal. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/IMG] However, the turn signal will NOT work if the parking lights are off.
(This is the easiest way to get the sides to blink out of sequence)
What you need:
(2) Sidemarkers
(2) SPDT Relays (Single Pole Double Throw)
(6) Wire Tappers
various lengths of wire, crimp on connectors, electrical tape, misc wiring supplies.
SPDT Relay
There are 5 contacts on the relay, they each have a number.
30 - Common
85 - Coil
86 - Coil
87 - Normally Open (N/O)
87a - Normally Closed (N/C)
There will be 5 different wire leads to deal with (3 of which are tapped into the existing wire harness)
Parking Lights (+)
Turn Signal (+)
Parking/Turn Ground (-)
Sidemarker (+)
Sidemarker (-)
And here are the connections:
30 - Parking Lights (+)
85 - Turn Signal (+)
86 - Parking/Turn Ground (-) AND Sidemarker (-)
87 - No connection
87a - Sidemarker (+)

I'm not sure if I am reading the diagram on your link correctly... but could this work?
Have a constant power sorce... and then make it so when N/O is active N/C is off. and when you flip a switch N/C is active and N/O is off?
would that be possible? or I am just not under standing.... basicly I have 2 lights, one blue and one white... and I want to set it up so when the white one is on the blue one is off. and at the flip of a switch the blue one will turn on and the white one will turn off.......

The power to the sidemarker is coming from the parking lights. When the turn signal bulb is on, the relay kills power to the sidemarker, making it blink out of sequence.
So yea, you are right.
Coil not energized = N/C on, N/O off
Coil energized = N/C off, N/O on

been trying to figure out what kind of switch would work... I am in the process of making angel eye projectors that will be both blue and white... (white for being legal) and blue to look nice =)
just needed to figure out how to get one to be on and one to be off =)

I was looking at your DIY and it very good. I just have one question for you though. Is there anything that runs a current during the entire time the signal is in the left/right position (during the blinking)? If so, couldn't we connect that to 30 as well? That way the sidemarkers will blink in reverse even when the parking lights are on, right? There must be something that runs a current during the entire time the signal lights are blinking.

been there, done that...my sidemarkers still works though. all i did was some wire tappin with the corner lights. the + wire from the corners are tapped into the - of the sidemarker...as far as i know, i already forgot. i'll check on it again. same thing happens, when the park lights are on the sidemarkers are too, when signaling the corners are lit and the sidemarkers are off and vice versa[IMG]i/expressions/beer_yum.gif[/IMG]

Okay the sidemarker has two wires coming off it. Tap one to the green signal wire, and the other one to the red signal wire. That's it. You will get this result:
1) sidemarkers are on when parking lights are on.
2) sidemarkers blink in sequence with turn signal when parking lights are off.
3) sidemarkers blink out of sequence when parking lights are on AND signal is used.
1) sidemarkers are on when parking lights are on.
2) sidemarkers blink in sequence with turn signal when parking lights are off.
3) sidemarkers blink out of sequence when parking lights are on AND signal is used.
