grinding sensation coming from brake pedal

I was driving in the snow today down my street and decided to test the ABS brakes. I pushed on the brake pedal hard enough that the car started to skid and I got kind of a grinding sensation from the brake pedal until the car stopped. I have noticed this before anytime braking on loose pebbles, rain slick roads or anytime the car starts to skid while braking. Is this normal?

Thanks

ABS vibrates the pedal. It is pulsating the brakes for you. That noise is totally normal.

Well, i am in brakes in the technical school that im in. An i had the same problem with my car. Then i checked my ROTORS. They were wavy as hell, which is defined as out of paralellism. Had them cut with 2 fast custs and one slow one. Slaped them babies on and the brake felt as good as new. Problem is that it does shorten the life of the rotors, and if you beat the hell out of the brakes, you would have to replace them. But they do fell the same as they did when I drove it off the lot (i really remember cuz i was slamming on the brakes trying to learn how to drive a stick). And if anyone who deals with this and has slotted and/or drilled rotors, if they have a waranty, get new ones. And if they dont, sucks to be you.

The rotors on our car are crappy. I warped my rotors within 15000 miles. My mechanic told me they are so thin you could warp em by tighting to much with an impact wrench.
