Throttle Plate Edging
I want to do this: Improving Throttle Body Performance: Knife Edging
Anyone know if our TB plates are already edged or not? I can't remember and I don't feel like taking off the filter box to find out.

I already have, you dont get more horsepower, you just get more throttle responce. honestly, i didnt notice much of an improvement, but hey, with our cars, every bit helps. you should also file down the screws holding the butterfuy valve to the throttle body, and polish the sides, but not too much, or else the air stream will lose the laminer flow against the side and create turbulance in the intake charge.

Didn't know what you were talking about, so I looked it up: Laminar Flow
Makes sense. What grit should I use then? Will steel wool make it too smooth? What about some rubbing compound? How shiny should it look when I'm done with it?

would you have to disasemble the throttle body to do this? and porting out the walls, how should they be when done? i heard that you shouldnt port the tb walls cause they have grooves that help the air.
BTW, I'm done.

I'll post a DIY soon. Can't tell a difference yet, since I was driving around with two other people in the car. I'll know soon enough though. Tightened my throttle cable while I was at it.
steel wool, should be fine, and no sand paper over 400 600 grit basiclly your just taking off any cast flashings and rough areas that impede air flow. if you want to get real deep into modding your car, you could try to add spiral crosshatches all around your TB, like a rifle muzzle. this makes the air vortex and stay coheasive. also if your going to be taking off your TB anyway, you might want to look in to throttle body spacers, which are basicly a block of alluminum with a hole in it the size of your tb hole, it essentially lengthens your intake manafold giving you a little horsepower gain. people who drive mustangs have been doing it for years, although im not sure a TB spacer would work with our intakes.

This is definately on my list. I don't know how much it would help but it looks like fun. It would sound impressive when telling a friend too.
