Has your car ever farted? (backfired?)
Sometimes when I step on the gas my exhaust POPS really loud... I mean, it sounds like the nastiest car fart!! "BANG!!!" Also, if I step on the gas all the way, it sounds like I am almost flooding the engine because it freakin' stutters then accelerates... UGH. Anyway, I've got DC Sports TCS, stock header, denso iridium plugs, and AEM CAI... Anyone know how I can fix this or what the hell is going on? Thanks...
i have very similar problems.....the car seems to backfire whenever i repeatadly step on and off the gas...(jsut fooling around)....the hesitation is on a regular basis....whenever i shift below or near 3000rpm, the car dawgs horribly and sounds like its going to die.......when i had my aem cai installed the car seeemed to backfire out of the intake, not so much the exhaust, but since the intake has been removed it seems to do it more through the exhaust now...
damn car! POS!

Grrrr...
Mine does that a lot too, and mine seems like it is mostly when the ac is on... But the sad part is I have an automatic..
I can't wait to get out of this deathtrap... (haha, just kidding, that was a bit harsh)

My car backfired once when I put my cam gear on, I forgot to hook this sensor up..
and when I started it back up it backfired so loud that I thought someone shot a gun off! I ducked and ran for cover, then realized it was my car! Anyways, mine doesnt backfire now, but I know what you guys mean about it bogging down bad under low rpm's. I hate driving through towns going like 30 beacuse I don't want to rev too high and get pulled over. Luckily I live out on country roads, so then I can rev all I want. I think my cars louder when more buildings are around because the sound must echo or something....

usually that is a sign of ignition miscalculation problem..simplya miss fire due to spark timin is not correct,if the computer is not readin the info correctly from the aftermarket speed parts,it will miss direct the signal/fire to the intake and cause the back fire,on older cars with carburetors will ignite a fire at the intake opening

It was because I was controlling the gas funny though......
I can purposely do it sometimes..(not that I want to).....step on the gas quickly.....let offf......step on.....let off......

My car does that allot too, sometimes when down shifting, but always if floor it and let off a few times in a row. Its like the engine loads up w/ fuel for some reason.

My accord did that when I put my exhuast on and I removed the very restrictive stock intake tubing and resonator. I swear people would get scared when behind me at lights. Like fire would come out at their bumper. The ecm adjusted and it never happend again over the following 3 yrs.
I have i/h/e and haven't had any backfire problems with the civic. I don't think they do that much and thus the ecm doesn't have to make much adjustment.
I do get bogging below 3k rmp though. This isn't due to the bolt-ons though. It started when I installed the iridium plugs (several months after bolt-on installation). It kinda bogs up to 3k and then gets it. Something about those plugs. I wish I had my own dyno to see if those stupid things are worth it. As I said, I know for a fact that my plugs are causing the bogging.

Guys, I heard that Iradiums are the reason. The run extremely hot and can actually damage (score) the top of our pistons. I had a Eclipse before my civic and it was the same reason. I put in Bosh Platinum +4's and I never had a problem after that. Back/missfiring is a problem with the ignition timing. A good spark makes this less sensitive but just don't "tap" your gas repeatedly, be progressive, it'll ride better, and be easier on the car and the engine. My 2 cents
yea, it happened to me a few times after i put a Greddy exhaust on. It doesnt happen unless i get close to red line in 1st gear, and then press the clutch and take a few seconds to shift to 2nd gear. Thats when i hear it make a little pop, but nothing really noticeable.
