cutting shifter vs purchasing short shifter?
i've already done a search on this topic... and couldn't come up with answers to my questions...
i want to make my shifter shorter.... so should i cut the shifter or should i just buy a new shifter?
and also if i do decide cutting my shifter.. are there any draw back compared to buying a short shifter?

A short shifter usually not only lowers the shifter, but also moves the actualy shift connection for shorter shifts. Cutting the shifter will give it a more sporty feel, but the throws will not be as short as a genuine short shifter....

DIY Ghetto Short Shifter....
Basically, cut and weld, but a real short shifter is gonna work better.

i have a solo adap. and i cut it with intention to weld back on BUT... a year and half later... car shifts great... its perfect... so low .. that when u grab it ur hand is even with the silver ring around the boot... so it kinda rests your wrist.. while my armrest is stil functional, even tho its so low. CUT IT ... i say CUT IT... takes like 10 seconds... just use a dremel

well, depending on how well you can do the job of cutting the shifter... are you going to cut it and thread the metal? or cut it and attach the tip?
the Revos are okay... the 2nd version anyway. If you can get a use one for a good price, I'll recommend it...
but yeah, a cut stock stick with a short shift adapter should be the same as a 2nd version revo.... I've heard of one RSX Revo SS snap due to hard shift... so there's lots to consider.
personally since I'm cheap I sold my neuspeed short shift adapter... either way I prefer the stock's butter smooth shifting than the stiff feeling I get with the short shifters.... the only thing I have on now is my aluminium bushing kit... sold the old kumosport ones.
edit: oh yeah, the difference between a short shifter adapter and the Revo (2nd version) is just the stick's actual height... other than that, the shift points are located at the same spots... (well, probably not exactly the same but close)... I choose the adapter because I want to keep the stock height... so my armrest will be functional...

i counted 6 posts above with misinformation, but i could be blinded by my hatred of the people who dont understand why it doesnt matter =|
i really wish people would add "imo" after what they said that wasnt factually correct.

hey whiterabbit...
remember me!?! i made that DIY ghetto shortshifter thread... i haven't done it yet but i'm thinking i will if i get bored at the shop i go to...
just taking a hack saw to it is not a good idea.... as a fellow korean jkim, i just have to say.. muh ree jum suh bah!!!(use your head!!)
you can keep the threads on the metal by cutting away a chunk of shifter and welding the thread back on the shifter....
those pics from whiterabbit helped...
good look homie... if you need help with anything.. just IM me on AIM...

If you want a shorter throw, then get the kit, if you just want a shorter look on the ****, cut it. But your shifting will a tad harder cuz you lower the fulcrum (is that the word) in which the shifter moves at...or maybe I dunno what im talking about
