To remove my DRL's or not...that is the question?
I know cops may not like the idea and potentially give you a ticket, but I have never been stopped for no DRL's on my '01 VW Jetta 1.8T in recent pasts. I've removed it on my Jetta because the lights are not dimmed in DRL mode as it is with the Hondas. Now that I am a Civic Si owner, I find it easy to simply pull out the DRL fuse and run without them.
Perhaps it's more appropriate to ask this question in the general discussion forum, but how many here run without DRL's?
'01 Civic Si Coupe
'02 Jeep Liberty
'99 Yamaha YZF-R6

Well, you probably know this already but if you pull the e-brake up one click before starting the car, your DRLs will be disabled until you release the e-brake. I tried that before I cleared my lights and it worked alright but I wish there was a way (i.e., similar to the way auto-AC during defrost mode can be disabled -- see DIY) to disable the DRLs in the ECU. Pulling the fuse will work but will it activate an annoying dash light??? Let me know how it goes.

you don't need daytime running lights. thats why the civics that aren't si don't have them. none of the 4 cars i own have drl and they never ask questions. mostly its the upscale cars that have them and things like the si and some cars with fog lights use them as drl's but there is no law against not having them
I would leave them in, you don't want to get pulled over for something stupid at the wrong time (like after a drink or two) and really farck things up. I don't think anyone else in this thread realizes you are from canada and its law there, lol.

whats the big deal about having them on? i actually turn them on all the time, its safer that way. and if you absolutly wont put them on when its sunny out, atleast put them on when its overcast. its easier for others to see you.

i disconnected the fuse, you have to pull 2 fuses, one for the DRL itself, and the other so thatthe light in the dashboard DRL doesnt light up always, i think it looks much better with no lights on during the day, and if i want lights i want it to be my night time driving lights, gotta love those blue bulbs, me and all my friends have them removed from our cars!
