Rotating Wheels....Torque
Rotating Wheels....Torque
I just rotated my wheels yesterday by myself and I was wondering if I torqued the nuts enough/too much. I did not have any special torque wrenches or anything, just the good ole' Honda tire Iron....
I weigh about 140lbs and I was putting alot of my weight on each lug nut until it wouldn't go anymore? Good/bad? anyway I was driving around on the highway and didn't feel anything weird, I'm just worried about any potential problems because I did not have the lug nuts properly torque to factory specs.
Thanks

You can take your car to a discount tire co near your house, they might do it for free if you catch them on a day they aren't busy I would try wed. They will probably charge you but you can have them rebalance, rotate, and tighten the lugs right for you.... Thats what I would do.

I work at discount tire co. we torque all hondas and acuras at 80ft./lbs, like specs and I think you overtorqued it, so you might not hear anything wrong with it but later on it will warp your disc.

Honda's 80?.. you nuts ...I was a tire installer for quite a few years.. the only cars above 40-50 are Vipers, vette's, and some exotic cars...
Really it's not much to worry about..most shops..even delaes just use an impact wrench and tighten it fairly well.. they never check to torque the nuts properly...
If you went insane on it thouhg it's a bad thing...it can cause your disc to warp and even crack..

ya i dont think its too important, i always see them cranking the impact wrench. i KNOW its not 80lbs cause i have to jump on the iron like 3 times to get it loose. 80lbs, i could almost loosen it by hand.
hey..since we're on the topic of torque
it's supposed to be 80 lbs for our tires
and I installed a upper front strutt bar and a lower rear tie bar
those are supposed to be at 40 lbs of torque
I didnt use a torque wrench and I just tighted them as much as I could
is that bad???
could I warp my suspension?? or something like that?

my badd, i meant by hand as in turning the iron by hand instead of stepping on it as i normally do... and i said 'almost' cause i still need to kick it slightly in order to loosen it by hand(again, using the iron)
I just bought my torque wrench it's so cool! Sears Baby!!!! It was like 24.99 and the 19mm socket was like 6.99, so I suggest you go and pick one of these up cause it's definately a good investment So I guess tommorow I'm gonna go bust my nuts and torque them up properly
Oh yeah if anybody wants their wheels torqued properly I'd be more than hqappy to do it for ya, as long as your within 5 miles of my house!

ya, i was thinking that... if i'm bored or something i'll photoshop it out. the focus on the camera sucks too cause the front is much bigger then the rear even if the front was closer to the camera.
