Smoked Tail Lights - Clear Coat???
I'm gonna spray paint my g/f's rear tail lights with that Smoke Transparent spray paint they have at AutoDynamic.com, and I had a question for those of you who have done it already. Did you put any sort of clear coat on after spray painting them? If so, any recommendations? And if not, has the spray paint held up over a period of time? Just figured I should see if I should put a sealant or clear coat on 'em instead of having to re-paint if they look like crap later on...thanx in advance...
If you are using that night shades stuff there is no need for a clearcoat just a light sanding ahead of time. Before my civic I had a black saturn and did the whole rear red piece with that stuff and it was on there for like 3 years with no problem. It survived Chicago winters and summers and all the other wierd weather we have here.
a friend of mine did his eclipse about and year and a half ago....no clearcoat no problem....we have to redo it now only because the sunlight has started to fade the tint....we are starting to see red throught the light

Cool! Thanks for all the help...I think I'm gonna give it a go this weekend. I got a spare set of lights off e-bay to fool around with so I'll see how it works without the clearcoat...
