Rattle sound when accelerating
After the car is warm from 10-15 minutes of driving, a rattle sound starts when I accelerate up to 3000-4000rpms. A tech at the Honda dealer says it may be a loose heatshield, but he didn't want to look at it. What could it be? If it's the heatshield, can I tighten it myself so it doesn't make that noise at higher rpms?
Thanks
Thanks
My heat shield makes a bit of a rattle only when it is very cold outside, and it only happens during the first few minutes after a cold start in the lower revs. Once the car and exhaust heats up, the rattle is gone. I'm sure mine is heat shield, just a case of cold shrinkage and heat expansion I guess.
But if yours is happening after 10-15 minutes of driving then I can't explain it. Especially seeing that you are from Reno, NV which doesn't get too cold.

It's coming from the front under the hood. And there is no sound while engine is warming up after cold starting it. It only starts after driving for a while. And it sounds kind of like intake sound, but rough. It has been making this sound before and after I got AEM SRI.
i have recently acquired that problem as well....
when the car is cold, and first running, at around 1800-2000 rpms the car makes this god awful ratteling/vibrating sound....i originally thought it was my new front strut bar, but i found that not to be the problem
i had to car at the honda dealer yesterday and was tyring to get it to make the noise, but it wouldnt because i had just drove 40 minutes to get there.......anyhow the tech insits that it is my exhaust....
YEAH, OK! thats why it just started happening and ive had the exhaust for 2 years?
honda techs will blame ANYTHING on ANY aftermarket part to get away with less work.... you know what i say to that F U C K THEM!

mww, I had the EXACT same problem that me and Zaskar2k1 fixed on my car yesterday. I have a Neuspeed strut bar that I've had installed about a month and a half, and right at 2100 RPM i'd get this god awful vibration/rattling noise. I swore it was my Injen CAI, so I tore the bumper off and made sure everything was tight. It still did it. Turns out that the R134A refrigerant line was vibrating against the strut bar. I fixed it by putting a small piece of weather stripping between the hose and the bar, and now everything's perfect. You might want to make sure nothing's hitting the bar.
