Question about interior paints/dyes
Hello, I am just wondering if anyone here has dyed/painted their interiors. I would like to know what you used, how much it cost, and how long it took. I want to paint my dash, rear deck, rear panels, door panels, pillars, and headliner white.

I painted my interrior silver with a can of vinyl paint at pepboys for $5. And it looks nice, but ive herd different stories that it'll chip and stuff but i had mines for 2 months and still looks good. It took me about 3hrs to paint the center dash and the trim on the AC vents.

on the air vents theres a series of plastic clips all around it but a il tug and a small pry thing /screwdriver will get it right off
if you want to piant your interior there several different methods,,,all i did was i went to pep boys and got me some plasti kote or dupli color paint,,a lot of primer, some clear coat and some sand paper,,,just remove the pieces,,sand them boys down good,,primer them a few times,,then sand them down some more,,then paint em and clear em,,,very easy but time consuming,,,if ya need to know how to remove anything just ask
wow the third edit,,i suck,,,as for time and price,,,a good 6 hours to do the air vents, bezel, thing in front of the bezel, head unit, cig plug, the things that bolt your selt belt to the pillar, and the console and the domlights,,i also had two other people helping me tho,,,as for price,,,les than 30 bucks if ya do it right,,

the sanding is necessary because you need the paint to stick to what your painting,,some people preach about the paint adhesive stuff but i just sanded it down,,,plus it looks so damn clean once its all smoothed and painted,,but use one or the other,,cuz if ya just primer and paint its gonna come out funky
i dyed my whole interior using SEM vinyl dye in white. then i used the factory EBP paint to do all the trim pieces. then i recarpeted in blue and vinyled the headliner and door inserts white, and used katzkins leather for the seats. the whole thing cost me about $1200 and took about 2 months, so it was probably about $200-$300 worth of vinyl dye, a total of about 20-25 cans of it. heres some pics so u can see how it came out.

OMG CivicPunker...that looks really nice. 2 Questions:
1. Did you do that yourself, or did you take it to a custom place to have it done?
2. How does the Katzkins fit with the Side SRS. I thought we couldnt get covers if we had Side SRS cause it would block it.

I have a few questions. First if of all though, your car looks really good. I would like to know how you did the headliner and what the process is when using that brand of vinyl dye.
thanks guys! i did the whole interior myself. the way you use the dye is just like your spraypainting something. it took about 5 or 6 coats to get it that white. as far as the katzkins with side srs, i had to take the airbag out and then after i put on the leather, i had to make a slit for the airbag to go back in. but make sure you hook it back up the right way! but its pretty self explanatory when you get down to it. for the headliner, i had to pop that out totally, then i used 3M general trim ahesive to glue the vinyl to the headliner. it takes a while to do and to get it right. then wherever theres any holes in the headliner u cut a big X shape on it and fold the pieces back. sounds kinda complicated but its pretty easy once u see how it works. just make sure u glue every spot on the headliner or else some stuff will bubble up on you, and constantly use your arm to smooth everything out.
the fabric comes totally off the door and i replaced it with vinyl. i sawed out most of the insert part of the door for that then juat made my own brackets to bolt everything back on, but i managed to wrap it around tight and it looks more professional that way.
