Maintaince Required light Help??

Hello i just got my civic a few weeks ago. last weekend i drove it a few hundred miles and my maintaince required light came on. does this mean i need to take it to a mechanic or is it like an oil change light. also is there a way to turn it off. if anyone know i would appreciate it.
Thanks

another reason to get that manual

every X amount of miles, the light will come on. reset by holding the odometer button and then putting your car in start.

FYI...Hold down the trip button and turn the key to the second postion(no need to start it)...Keep holding it down until all the lights turn off on the dash(most of them will...you'll know)...Keep holding it and turn key back...Then let go of the trip button...YOU'RE ALL SET!!

Mine came on @ 13,500 and my service advisor showed me how to reset it...Hope this helps

for a few hundred miles? that's wierd. just like somebody suggested, go back to your dealership and ask them to check the engine. the maintenance required shouldn't lit that fast. good luck.
