turbo :-D
okay, this isn't a thread about where i cna get a turbo and such. the thing i am asking is when you control the turbo with the turbo controller, can you shut the turbo completely off so it makes NO blow off sound? plus, if i shut the turbo down completly, wouldn't it preserve my engine a little longer? or, rather trying to completely shut it off, leave it at a low psi (2-3)?

you cannot simply "shut down" a turbo. you can turn the boost way down. but if you completely stop the turbo from turning the engine wouldnt run right because of the restriction in the exhaust.
if you want that bov sound when you want, then get a large turbo that takes a good amount of rpm to spool up. then most of your driving will be in turbo-lag however.
or you can mount the ricer bov to a switch
edit: the other costly method is to get a sequential turbos like the rx7...and mount a bov on the larger one. im not to sure about this, but it seems logical.

he did mention "I am not sure about this" cut him some slack, will ya?
You can make it build virtually no boost by turning it all the way down,
the controller operates the wastegate, If the wastegate is told to remain open all the time the turbo will build little to any boost because a very small (if any) amount of exhaust will go through the turbo (and only when the pressure is great enough).
If your worried about sound, don't buy a "SUPER-MEGA-BLOW OFF" just buy a nowmal BOV and return the air to the intake.

Think sequential turbos on a civic is funny BoYrAcEr???? Do you remember that the RX-7 is a 1.3 liter??????? I know it would not be the greatest set-up, but it is possible. There is a 5th gen twin turbo civic. Yeah, it prolly wouldnt spool up the twin turbos, but it is possible. A 1.7 could spool those turbos. If a 1.3 liter rotary can, im sure a 1.7 can.
I understand why people want turbo on their civics. I just don't think it is practical. Our cars are new. You’re going to kill your warranty and your reliability. Yes, you can make your car turbo and it still be reliable. That’s going to go beyond the cost of a simple kit.
All I’m saying is think thing through I guess.
May the boost be with you……

Im not saying that i would do it Boyracer. But, you were making fun of the guy for saying that it could be done. I wouldnt even attempt something like that, i was simply saying that you could do it and that a civic can be twin turboed.
